If you took all the kitchen appliances from the 1960’s the pressure cooker would be one that has received the most improvements and the Cuisinart electric pressure cooker is one of the results. The overwhelming improvement is in the safety. Those of you that were around in the 60’s undoubtedly have heard a story about someone whose pressure cooker exploded and spewed food all over the kitchen. Those days are gone. With the Cuisinart electric pressure cooker safety is no longer a consideration. With it being electric the temperatures are precisely controlled. The lid stays locked until the pressure is released.
This electric pressure cooker is a favorite of busy mom’s, or anyone that works all day and has to come home and get a delicious dinner on the table in hurry. For any cook that wants a flavorful dinner and lock in nutrients the electric pressure cooker is a favorite. The Cuisinart cooks seventy per cent faster than the average cooking time on the stove top. This is a much healthier way of cooking because the pressure keeps the vitamins and minerals in the food from escaping.
The brushed stainless steel finish almost gives your kitchen that updated look. It even looks great as a serving bowl on your table. Besides, the brushed stainless helps hide any finger prints.
Some of the other updates to today’s pressure cookers include the ability to brown, simmer and sauté. This comes in especially handy when cooking stews or pot roasts. You can even make cheesecakes and custard. Foods stay moist and flavors are not altered.
The Cuisinart electric pressure cooker has a 6 quart capacity and a digital thermometer. It has the following programmable settings: high or low pressure, browning, simmer, sauté and automatic keep warm. It has an LED display with an automatic countdown timer. Unbelievably, it has a dishwasher safe, nonstick cooking pot with a trivet. It comes with a 3 year limited warranty. Many of the parts are replaceable and easily ordered online including the power cord, cooking pot, sealing ring, pressure limit valve, trivet, and the lid. It is 12 x 12 x 13 inches so it fits nicely on your kitchen counter or on the table for serving.
By far the majority of the reviews are very favorable. It seems to be a huge time saver. One owner said she could make mashed potatoes in 5 minutes. There were many favorable comments on cooking dry beans since these can be difficult to get soft sometimes. Also cooking grains got a lot of favorable comments because of the cooker’s ability to get them cooked to perfection. But there were a few that complained about the pot not being as scratch resistance as they expected.
There were a few complaints on it being hard to seal. But one person that complained about that said they were going to take it back for replacement because they like it so much. There is a little red ball that is an indicator that lets you know whether or not you have a safe seal. This is very important to understand and to make sure it is properly sealed every time.
